Brother of National Party’s central leader murdered in Balochistan’s Panjgur

Panjgur: Waleed Saleh Baloch, brother of National Party (NP) central leader and member of the provincial assembly Rahmat Saleh Baloch, was shot dead on Sunday in the Panjgur district of Balochistan.

The killing was confirmed in separate statements issued by the Chief Minister of Balochistan and the National Party.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident and ordered the immediate arrest of those responsible. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Bugti directed the authorities to “utilise all available resources to ensure justice for the bereaved family.”

The statement further noted that the Chief Minister has sought a detailed report from the police regarding the incident.

In a separate statement, the National Party also condemned the killing in the strongest terms and announced a three-day period of mourning.

According to the party, Waleed Saleh Baloch was celebrating his wedding when the attack occurred.

The statement described the killing as “not only the tragic murder of an ordinary citizen but the loss of a respected individual belonging to a prominent political family—one who consistently upheld the principles of peace, non-violence, patience, tolerance, and political integrity.”

The National Party further stated that “the government has completely failed to ensure the safety of its citizens, and incidents such as this stand as a stark reminder of that failure.”

Calling the killing “a matter of deep sorrow for the people of Balochistan and the entire political community,” the party urged authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The statement added that “such acts of violence are part of the conspiracy of anti-peace elements—those who seek to undermine peace, progress, and political stability in Balochistan.”
