COVID: Infections, deaths spike as Pakistan faces Delta variant
Islamabad: Daily coronavirus case count in Pakistan is above 4,000 along fatalities at highest point as fourth wave rages across country, with authorities linking the spike with the Delta variant of virus.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,722 cases of coronavirus were reported while 46 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 23,575.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 1,047,999.
As many as 945,829 patients have recovered from the disease with 3,858 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 359,321 in the province with 11,104 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 389,699 in the province, while the death toll has reached 6,069.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 145,862 in the province with 4,487 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 30,749 confirmed cases while 328 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 25,301 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 634. On the other hand, there are 8,391 cases in GB with 147 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 88,676 cases in the capital city while 806 people have lost their lives.
