Abdul Qayyum Niazi becomes AJK Prime Minister
Muzaffarabad: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mr Abdul Qayyum Niazi has been elected as new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul Qayyum Niazi has been elected 13th President of Azad Kashmir
He got 33 votes whereas, the opposition coalition candidate got 15 votes.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan nominated the newly elected Mr Abdul Qayyum Niazi for the post of Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K).
In a Tweet, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting said, As Translated: “After a long consultation and review of suggestions, the Prime Minister Pakistan and Chairman PTI Imran Khan has nominated the newly elected MLA Mr. Abdul Qayyum Niazi for the post of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.”
Mr Niazi is a dynamic and genuine political activist whose heart beats with the workers, the minister added.
MLA Niazi has emerged as a dark horse as the lead contenders for the post were Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and Azhar Sadiq.
Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry who hails from the Mirpur district has been offered to become AJK President.
