Sargodha: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Wednesday arrested four officials in connection with the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) scam.


Following the direction of Director FIA Punjab Zone-2, Dr Muhammad Athar Waheed, an FIA Sargodha team conducted a raid on the officers and private contractors of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) Warcha salt mines Khushab and arrested four accused persons nominated in the FIR No 140/21.
Those who have been arrested are Faisal Ahmed Shah, the Project Manger (PMDC) Salt Mines Warcha Khushab, Umer Parvez, the Assistant Manager (PMDC) Khewra Salt Mines Jehlum, Rahat Iqbal, and contract the Contractor Salt Mines Warcha Khushab, and Shahid Iqbal Contractor Salt Mines Warcha Khushab.
Accused persons with the convenience of each other misappropriated Rs16.917 million, causing huge loss to the government exchequer.
According to the FIA, further loss would be assessed which is expected to be multiples.
The suspects are involved in puncturing the salt mines for personal gains and lingering on the tendering process to award benefits to their favourites.
