According to foreign news agencies, Romania’s Defence Minister, Ionut Mosteanu, stepped down from his post on Friday following a controversy over providing incorrect information in his résumé.
In a Facebook post, the minister stated that he had mistakenly mentioned a university in his CV that he had never attended.
He added, ‘I have resigned from my position. I want Romania to remain fully focused on its difficult mission.’
The outgoing defence minister said that Romania and Europe are under threat from Russian attacks, and that Romania’s national security must be protected at all costs.
It is worth noting that the controversy emerged after it was revealed that the minister had provided false information in his CV.
