In the jurisdiction of Pushta Khara Police Station, a religious scholar and his young son were shot dead, while his other son was injured in an attack in Board Bazaar.
According to Pushta Khara Police, the cleric, Qari Izzatullah, had left a seminary in Safed Dheri after offering Friday prayers and was travelling home with his two sons in a car when motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on them in Board Bazaar.
Police said that Qari Izzatullah, a resident of Phase 2, and his son Ali died on the spot, while his other son, Murtaza, sustained injuries. The bodies and the injured child were shifted to hospital, where the survivor is receiving medical treatment.
Police added that the indiscriminate gunfire by the assailants caused panic and fear across the area.
SP Cantt Ihtiraz Khan reached the crime scene with a police contingent, collected key evidence, and obtained CCTV footage from nearby locations. A case has been registered against the unidentified attackers.
He stated that investigations have begun, with target killing among the angles being explored.
