Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved Halal meat export policy.
According to details PM was chairing a review meeting in Islamabad today.
During the meeting Prime Minister directed that a comprehensive three-year strategy, encompassing practical measures to increase Halal meat exports, be presented in the next two weeks.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that a comprehensive strategy, created through coordination between all relevant ministries and provincial governments, is essential to secure Pakistan's share in the Halal meat market across Muslim countries and worldwide.
Also The Prime Minister instructed the committee established to enhance Pakistan's Halal meat export market to propose actionable suggestions to improve production, cold storage, and other factors.
During the meeting PM said special measures should be taken to increase Halal meat production in the livestock sector in line with global standards and to compete with the regional production levels.
He said establishing coordinated centers with the cooperation of federal ministries and provincial governments are need of the hour to enhance the production and nutritional value of Halal meat.
Alluding to the country's potential in Halal meat export, the Prime Minister assured that the government will provide all possible assistance for the international certification of the existing slaughterhouses and bilateral registration with other countries.
He said special measures should be taken to ensure that the slaughterhouses are disease-free and maintain cleanliness and hygiene arrangements according to international standards.

The meeting was informed that Pakistan's total Halal meat production is six million metric tons and sufficient quantity is available for the export after meeting domestic demand. It was informed about the steps being taken to increase Halal meat production and ensure global-standard packaging.
