Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed concern over the persecution of minorities in India and has called for the protection of their fundamental rights.
According to details, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office stated that incidents of vandalism and violence against Muslims on the occasion of Christmas are condemnable.
The Foreign Office spokesperson added that incidents of the demolition of Muslims’ homes in India are on the rise.
Referring to the Mohammad Akhlaq lynching case, the spokesperson said that the state attempted to protect the accused, which has further intensified feelings of insecurity among Muslims.
The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized that the international community should take notice of incidents of oppression against minorities and take appropriate measures to ensure the protection of minorities’ fundamental rights in India.
It is worth noting that Indian media had reported that on December 25, Christmas celebrations in various parts of India were targeted by extremist elements linked to Hindutva. In several places, religious events of the Christian community were disrupted and decorations were damaged.
