Rawalpindi: Pakistan Navy Successfully Tests Surface-to-Air Missile, Conducts Comprehensive Naval Exercise
The Pakistan Navy successfully tested a surface-to-air missile, while conducting a comprehensive naval exercise in the northern Arabian Sea, showcasing its operational preparedness and combat capabilities.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise tested the capabilities of both conventional and unmanned systems, in line with evolving maritime warfare strategies.
During the exercise, the Pakistan Navy demonstrated the capabilities of its modern air defense system by successfully launching the LY-80 (N) surface-to-air missile from a vertical launch system. The missile, fired at an extended range, successfully targeted and destroyed an airborne objective. This exercise confirmed the Pakistan Navy's effective long-range air defense system.
The spokesperson further stated that precision strikes were carried out on surface targets using advanced loitering munitions, demonstrating the Navy's precision strike capabilities. The loitering munitions accurately destroyed the targets, proving Pakistan Navy's strike accuracy.
The ISPR also mentioned that successful tests were conducted on unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in open seas, which play a crucial role in modern naval warfare. These trials demonstrated the platform's high-speed performance, agility, precise navigation, and effective capabilities in harsh weather conditions.
The USV was recognized as a low-risk, high-impact stealth tactical interceptor. The exercise was observed by the Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, highlighting the effective use of Pakistan Navy's modern systems.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson quoted Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military), as praising the professionalism and operational proficiency of the officers and sailors. He emphasized that the Pakistan Navy will continue to ensure the protection of Pakistan's maritime defense and national sea-based interests at all costs.
