Four cops including SHO martyred in D I Khan terrorist attack

Dera Ismail Khan: Terrorists opened fire on a police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) search party in Dera Ismail Khan, resulting in the martyrdom of four police personnel, including a station house officer (SHO).

According to the police, the search team from Paniala police station came under sudden gunfire from terrorists lying in wait in the village of Wanda Budh while conducting a search operation.

The fallen officers have been identified as SHO Faheem Mumtaz Marwat, Constable Irfan Khan, Constable Ghulam Subhani and Constable Wajahat Ali.

In the attack, four personnel, including DSP Hafiz Muhammad Adnan, sustained injuries. The wounded were shifted to the Trauma Centre, where all are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. Following the incident, the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took notice of the firing incident in D.I. Khan and paid tribute to the sacrifice of the martyred SHO and other personnel. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, saying the provincial government would extend all possible assistance to them.

The Chief Minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police remain on the frontline in the fight against terrorism and that such cowardly attacks would not undermine their resolve. He added that a comprehensive and effective strategy is essential for the complete eradication of terrorism, which remains a shared challenge for the entire country, and that operations against anti-peace elements in the province would be further intensified.
