National records fall as 61 marksmen contest Pakistan’s premier long-range championship

Web Desk: The All Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah Open Long Range Shooting Championship – Chief of Army Staff Cup 2026 was held with great splendour and distinction.
The seventh edition of the championship, organised under the auspices of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association, took place in Multan from 13 to 15 February.
A total of 61 accomplished marksmen from all four provinces of the country participated in the competition. A 15-member contingent from Balochistan was also among the competitors.
Participants demonstrated exceptional skill and composure across eight long-range rifle matches spanning distances from 300 to 1,000 yards, performing admirably despite challenging weather conditions.
In the principal categories, Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar secured the Full Target Rifle Trophy, Waleed Gul claimed the F-Class Freestyle Open Trophy, Lieutenant General Ehsan Gulrez triumphed in the Tactical Match, and Noor Zaman emerged victorious in the Iron Sight Rifle Match.

In the individual events, Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar won the 300-metre Sporting Rifle Match, Lieutenant General Ahsan Gulrez secured first position in the 900-yard FTR Match, Junaid Waqas Iqbal claimed the first 1,000-yard FTR Match, Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar won the second 1,000-yard FTR Match, and Waleed Ahmed Gul secured first place in both 1,000-yard F-Open Matches (Nos. 1 and 2).
Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar set a new national record in the FTR Aggregate, while Waleed Ahmed Gul established new national records in the F-Open 1,000-yard category and the F-Open Aggregate.
At the closing ceremony, distinguished guests and senior members of the shooting community presented medals and trophies to the successful competitors in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting long-range rifle shooting across the country.
The national long-range rifle team is scheduled to participate in the 7th F-Class World Championship to be held in the United Kingdom in August 2026.
