Kandy:England defeated Pakistan by two wickets in a nail-biting Super 8 Group 2 clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, securing a place in the semifinals.
According to details, in the match played at Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, England successfully chased Pakistan’s target of 165 runs in a thrilling contest, reaching it for the loss of 8 wickets.
For England, Harry Brook played an outstanding innings and scored a magnificent century. Apart from him, Will Jacks scored 28 runs and Sam Curran added 16 runs, while no other batter could reach double figures. Phil Salt was dismissed on the very first ball of the match.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first, scoring 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer with 63 runs.
Pakistan had a disappointing start. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub opened the innings, but their partnership did not last long as Saim Ayub was caught out after scoring 7 runs. Captain Salman Ali Agha, who came in next, was dismissed for just 5 runs.
Babar Azam and Sahibzada Farhan then built a responsible partnership and steadied the innings, but at a total of 73, Babar Azam was bowled for 25 runs.
Pakistan’s fourth wicket fell at 122 when Sahibzada Farhan was trapped LBW after scoring 63 runs off 45 balls. Fakhar Zaman, batting at number five, scored 25 runs before being caught.
The sixth wicket fell at 146 when Usman Khan was caught after scoring 8 runs. On the very next ball, Mohammad Nawaz was dismissed without scoring. Shaheen Afridi made 2 runs, while Shadab Khan scored 23 before getting out.
