Ahmedabad: In the Super Eight stage of the ICC T20 World Cup, South Africa defeated West Indies by nine wickets. In the match played in Ahmedabad, India, South Africa won the toss and opted to field first.
Batting first, West Indies posted 176 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Romario Shepherd top-scored with 50 runs, while Jason Holder contributed 49.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi claimed three wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Bosch picked up two wickets each. Chasing a target of 177, South Africa achieved victory in the ___ over, losing just one wicket.
Captain Aiden Markram led from the front with an unbeaten 82, while Quinton de Kock scored 47 and Ryan Rickelton added 45.
With this win, South Africa moved to the top of Group One in the Super Eight stage with four points, followed by West Indies in second place, India in third, and Zimbabwe in fourth.
