Pakistan batting collapses in first ODI against Bangladesh

Web Desk: Pakistan’s batting line-up collapsed in the opening match of the three-match One-Day International series.

In the match being played at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and opted to field first.

For Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat opened the innings. Farhan was dismissed after scoring 27, while Shamil Hussain managed only four runs. Maaz Sadaqat, playing the first match of his career, contributed 18 runs.

Bangladesh’s bowlers dismantled Pakistan’s batting order, bowling the entire side out for 114 in 30.1 overs.

Faheem Ashraf was the top scorer for Pakistan with 37 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan made 10, Salman Agha five, Hussain Talat four, Abdul Samad nought, Shaheen Afridi four, Mohammad Wasim nought, and Abrar Ahmed remained unbeaten on nought.

The total of 114 is Pakistan’s lowest score against Bangladesh in One-Day Internationals.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi had said that if his side had won the toss, they too would have chosen to bat first on the track, adding that a total of 270 to 280 would be a competitive score on the wicket.

Four Pakistan players made their ODI debuts in the match: Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Abdul Samad and Shamil Hussain.
