Bangladesh extend lead to 179 runs against Pakistan at stumps on Day 4 of first Test

Dhaka: By the end of play on the fourth day of the first Test against Pakistan, Bangladesh had reached 152 for 3 in their second innings, extending their overall lead over Pakistan to 179 runs.

With the score at 15, Mohammad Abbas dismissed Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy to provide Pakistan with the first breakthrough.
Bangladesh lost their second wicket at 23 runs when Shadman Islam, after scoring 10, was dismissed by Hasan Ali.
A crucial 105-run partnership for the third wicket between Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto steadied the innings. Mominul Haque was eventually dismissed for 56 by Shaheen Afridi, while captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also completed a half-century.
At stumps on day four, Bangladesh were 152 for 3, with Najmul Hossain Shanto unbeaten on 58 and Mushfiqur Rahim not out on 16. Bangladesh’s lead had grown to 179 runs.
Play on the fourth day was interrupted for nearly three hours due to rain.
First Innings
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 413 in their first innings, with Najmul Hossain Shanto scoring 101, Mominul Haque making 91, and Mushfiqur Rahim contributing 71 runs.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas claimed five wickets, while Shaheen Afridi took three. Nauman Ali and Hasan Ali picked up one wicket each.
Pakistan were then dismissed for 386 in their first innings, giving Bangladesh a first-innings lead of 27 runs.
Azan Awais top-scored with a brilliant 103, while Abdullah Fazal made 60, Mohammad Rizwan scored 59, and Salman Ali Agha contributed 58 runs. Among the other batters, Imam-ul-Haq scored 45, while Shaheen Shah Afridi added 13 runs.
For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz starred with the ball by taking five wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam claimed two wickets each.
