Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs in Dhaka Test match

Dhaka: Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test match, securing a comprehensive victory after dismantling the hosts’ batting line-up in the second innings.

Chasing a target of 268, Pakistan endured a disastrous collapse and were bowled out for 163. The national side lost its first wicket at just three runs, while the second dismissal came in the form of Azan Awais, who scored 15.

Thereafter, Shan Masood managed only two runs, while Abdullah Fazal top-scored with 66. Salman Ali Agha contributed 26, Saud Shakeel made 15, Hassan Khan added 12, while Hasan Ali and Nauman Ali scored one and four respectively before returning to the pavilion.

Earlier, Salman Agha had remarked that if Pakistan were set a target of around 260 runs in 70 overs against Bangladesh, the side would certainly pursue victory.

In the match played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh declared their second innings on the fifth day at 240 for 9.

For Bangladesh, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with 87 runs, while Mominul Haque added 56.

For Pakistan, Hasan Ali and Nauman Ali claimed three wickets apiece, while Shaheen Afridi took two and Mohammad Abbas picked up one wicket.

Nauman Ali also completed the milestone of 100 wickets in Test cricket during the match.

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan had won the toss and elected to field first. Bangladesh posted 413 in their first innings, in reply to which Pakistan were dismissed for 386.
