Tehran: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who is currently on an official visit to Iran, met Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and President Masoud Pezeshkian, where detailed discussions were held regarding Iran-U.S. negotiations and a possible major agreement. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present during the meetings.
According to Iranian media reports, both sides discussed bilateral relations and matters related to the ongoing negotiations with the United States.
Iranian officials stated that the meetings focused on diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions, promoting peace and stability, and strengthening security in West Asia. Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir had also met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran.
According to Arab media and Iranian news agencies, a historic agreement being prepared through Pakistan’s mediation is expected to be announced soon. If successful, it will reportedly be named the “Islamabad Declaration.”
Reports suggest that the draft of the nine-point agreement does not include Iran’s nuclear program; instead, its main focus is an immediate and unconditional ceasefire on all fronts.
Under the agreement, both countries would be bound not to target each other’s civilian, military, or economic installations. The deal also includes a complete halt to ongoing military operations and media warfare, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman.
Following the agreement, both sides are expected to resume negotiations within seven days, while the United States would gradually lift sanctions imposed on Iran.
It is worth mentioning that Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Iran yesterday, where he received a warm welcome from Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is already present in Iran, where he has held meetings with several senior Iranian figures and discussed measures aimed at easing tensions in the ongoing disputes with the United States.
