Hangzhou: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan will soon stand alongside China in the journey of regional development.
According to details, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that celebrations are being held to mark 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship, adding that relations between the two countries are growing stronger with each passing day.
Addressing a ceremony in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, the Prime Minister described Hangzhou as a beautiful and modern city, calling it the result of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision. He said that President Xi transformed China into a global economic and military power.
During his speech, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that Pakistan would soon become China’s partner in the region’s development journey. He revealed that from Shenzhen to Hangzhou, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth billions of dollars had been signed, and around 30 percent of them had already taken the form of formal agreements.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed that converting MoUs into practical agreements at a faster pace is the need of the hour.
He further said that Pakistan is equipping its young population with IT training and internationally recognized certifications so they can meet the demands of the global market.
The Prime Minister identified four major sectors agriculture, information technology, special economic zones, and mines & minerals as key drivers of future development.
He noted that Pakistan is rich in mineral resources and invited global investors to invest in the country. He added that increasing agricultural productivity would require modern seeds, machinery, and improved farming methods, while millions of small businesses would be established in rural areas to promote value addition.
Addressing the ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan needs skills, technology, and investment rather than loans. He assured investors that one-window operations and red-carpet treatment would be provided in Special Economic Zones.
He also announced that a world-class Special Economic Zone is being established on 6,000 acres in Karachi, which will create new opportunities for investment and industrial growth.
