Web Desk: On the day marking the martyrdom of the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), who was martyred at the hands of Yazid's forces in the Battle of Karbala, processions carrying symbolic Alams (standards), Taboots (replicas of coffins), and Zuljanah (the symbolic horse of Imam Hussain) are being held across the country.

To commemorate the tragedy of Karbala, which took place more than fourteen centuries ago on this day, mourning gatherings (Majalis-e-Aza) are being held nationwide, accompanied by Ashura processions.

In remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions—who endured three days of hunger and thirst before being martyred in Karbala—arrangements have been made for the distribution of Niaz (charitable food) and Sabeels (free drinking water).

In Karachi, the central Ashura procession is beginning from Nishtar Park following the main mourning congregation.

In Lahore, the main procession, which started from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate, is making its way toward Karbala Gamay Shah, with thousands of mourners, including men, women, and children, participating.

Ashura processions are also taking place in Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gilgit, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, and other cities across the country.

Strict security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of participants throughout the observances.
