Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umer Thursday said that since the COVID outbreak began the number of patients in critical care unit are at highest level.

On his official twitter handle, the Minister wrote, “As seen globally, impact of indian delta variant in Pakistan also shows that it spreads faster & increases chances of patients to need hospitalization”.

The National Command and Control Center (NCOC) Chief further said that right now both hospital inflow and critical care patients at highest level since start of covid”.

Asad Umer urged the people to follow all coronavirus related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

“Please follow sop's & vaccinate,” he concluded.

So far, 35% of eligible population has received at least one doze of vaccination.

Furthermore, NCOC has set target to partially vaccinate 40% and fully vaccinate the 60% of eligible population.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the fourth wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous three waves.

As per NCOC around 4,103 cases of coronavirus were reported while 89 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 25,978.

The total number of cases has reached 1,167,791.

As many as 1,048,872 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,717 critical cases.
