Gujrat: Former Federal Secretary, columnist and intellectual Dr Safdar Mahmood has passed away Monday.


The funeral prayers of Dr. Safdar Mahmood will reportedly be offered in Defense after Zuhr prayers.
Hailing from a village near Dinga Town of Gujrat, Dr. Safdar Mehmood graduated from Government College University (GCU), Lahore.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Dr. Safdar Mahmood.
In a condolence message, he expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
Dr. Safdar was a columnist in the daily Jang and has been the author of many famous books. He wrote many Urdu columns with the title of "Subah Bakhair".
He was a leading political Analyst of Pakistan and was awarded with Pride of Performance for his outstanding contributions in the field of history.
He has also written many books on history and politics and had very vast readership of his columns and books.
He also wrote many research papers in international journals. He has served on many key posts as member of Central Superior Services of Pakistan.
His research articles are published in journals and magazines of international repute. He has also served at different administrative and posts as member of Central Superior Services, Government of Pakistan.
His more than one dozen books have been favorably reviewed by Pakistani and foreign press and are widely quoted by foreign and Pakistani authors and research scholars. Moreover, his books have been translated in many foreign languages e.g. English, Chinese, German, Bengali, Uzbek.
