Islamabad: The federal government on Wednesday gave approval to increase the per litre price of petrol by Rs5 to Rs123.30 and high speed diesel Rs5.1 to Rs120.4.


Sources in the government said per litre price of kerosene oil has been hiked Rs5.46 to reach at Rs92.26, while light diesel per litre price has been increased by Rs5.92 to Rs90.69.
A notification was issued by the finance ministry later.
They said the new prices would be applicable from today midnight.
However, the government had reduced the prices of petroleum prices on August 31.
With the increase in POL prices, the new prices of petrol will be Rs123.30 per litre, diesel Rs120.04 per litre, kerosene Rs92.26 and LDO price would be Rs90.69 per litre.
Earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had recommended an increase of up to Rs10.50 per litre in the prices of various POL products.
In a summary to Petroleum Division, Ogra recommended Rs10 hike in petrol price, Rs10.5 for HSD and Rs5.5 for both kerosene oil and LDO.
