Lahore police arrest 1,495 'professional beggars' in week long anti-beggary campaign
Lahore: Lahore police, in its ongoing anti-beggary campaign, have so far arrested 1,495 beggars from all parts of the city and booked them in 1,430 cases in the past one week.

DIG Operations Captain (retired) Muhammad Sohail Ch said all those who had been arrested are professionals beggars. "This is the highest number ever arrested in Lahore police history," he added.
The DIG said in the second phase from tomorrow (Sunday) onward, police would be arresting their handlers, contractors and all those who are coming as their “Zamin (Guarantors)” in courts as they are indirectly their supporters.
He said police needed public cooperation, asking citizens to call Police Emergency 15 in case they see these professionals beggars anywhere.
"Lahore police will respond and will finish this menace from Lahore with public and media support," he added.
