Rawalpindi: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has announced that he would quit politics after the inauguration of Nullah Lai, besides keeping up his practice of predicting things by saying that the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) would be divided into three factions.

The interior minister said that Pakistan was going through a very crucial time. “Our leaders are looking to the West while the fact is that the sun rises in the East.”
It is not a time to humiliate others, rather it’s a time to do serious politics, he emphasized. He was of the view that if any crisis was created in Afghanistan, it would spill over and would have destabilizing effects on Pakistan.
He stated that a meeting of the National Security Conference is going to be held later today in which the audience would be given a briefing on the internal and external challenges, Pakistan was facing today.
He said after Oct 22, a change would come in national politics. He was of the view that the next 120 days would be extremely important in Pakistani politics. He foretold that near the next general elections, there would be a new alignment of the PML-N and it would be divided into three groups.
He said that inflation was rising in the country but Imran Khan’s government would manage to control it.
Rashid was optimistic that Imran Khan’s party would win the next general elections and those who were using foul language against the state institutions would fall down headlong. He said the government was ready to hold talks with the opposition on everything including the matter of extension in the tenure of the NAB chief.
