Twitter unveils ‘soft block’ feature to let users remove followers without blocking
A follower, user remove won’t be notified of the change.

San Francisco: Micro-blogging site Twitter has unveiled a new feature “soft block” that would allow users on the web to remove a follower without blocking them.
Twitter’s new feature is more of a remote unfollow button, a gentler way to create some distance between users.
To soft-block a follower, head to your profile, click followers, click the three-dot menu next to a follower, and then click the option “Remove this follower”.

This safety feature can be helpful if a user want to avoid the repercussions of blocking someone.
For years, Twitter users had manufactured this “soft block” by swiftly blocking and unblocking a follower, which removes them from your follower list. But now, Twitter is making this its own feature.
In the tweet about the test that Twitter posted in September, the images indicated that you have to manually scroll through your follower list and find the person you want to remove before you can take them off your followers list.
We're making it easier to be the curator of your own followers list. Now testing on web: remove a follower without blocking them.

Twitter has been testing and implementing a baffling amount of new features lately.
“You won’t see us stay tied to the things that aren’t working,” Twitter Head of Consumer Product Kayvon Beykpour said last month.
“We believe that if we’re not winding things down every once in a while, then we’re not taking big enough bets,” he said.
