Reports quoting sources said that former South African Test cricketer Gary Kirsten is a leading contender to become new Pakistan head coach.
Lahore: Gary Kirsten is on Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) radar for the job of head coach of national team on permanent basis, sources revealed.
As per details, PCB Chairperson Ramiz Raja is personally looking into finding a candidate for the position of head coach.
Reports quoting sources said that former South African Test cricketer Gary Kirsten is a leading contender to become new Pakistan head coach.
Gary Kirsten is one of the popular names in world cricket when it comes to coaching.
Moreover, Kirsten was India's coach from 2008 to 2011 and India won the World Cup under his coaching.
It has been learnt that former Australian batsman Simon Katich and former English cricketer Peter Moores are also on the shortlist. Although the latter might have to settle for a Pakistan Super League (PSL) assignment.
Pakistan, which is currently on a roll in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, have legendary Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden as the batting consultant for the showpiece event.
Last month, both head coach Misbah-Ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis had stepped down from their positions shortly after Ramiz Raja's appointment as the PCB chairman,
For the ongoing T20 World Cup, Saqlain Mushtaq has been appointed as the interim coach for Pakistan.
