T20 World Cup: India thrash Afghanistan by 66 runs
Afghanistan faced humiliation in the hands of India in important match of T20 World Cup on Wednesday as the latter beat former by 66 runs.
Afghan team managed to score 144 for seven in apparently difficult chase.
From India Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul hammered half-centuries to guide India to a towering 210 for two in a must-win match.
Sharma (74) and Rahul (69) put on an opening partnership of 140 to lay the foundation for the tournament´s highest total so far in the Super 12 match in Abu Dhabi.
In reply, Afghanistan rarely looked like chasing it down after losing both openers in the Powerplay, but avoided a collapse and built a total of 144/7 with one eye on their NRR.
Afghanistan had posted 190-4 in their opening win against Scotland.
