Renowned drummer Pappu Sain dies of liver cancer
Known for his powerful performance at the shrine of his "spiritual guide" Shah Jamal in Ichhra, Sain rose to fame after his traditional dance to the beat of Sufi-style drums gained attention.


Lahore: Celebrated and renowned drummer Pappu Sain passed away Sunday (November 7) in Lahore, after suffering from liver cancer. He was 95.
Reportedly, he was suffering from liver cancer for past two years and was admitted to Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) after his health deteriorated.
Sain passed away due to accumulation of water in his stomach.
Known for his powerful performance at the shrine of his "spiritual guide" Shah Jamal in Ichhra, Sain rose to fame after his traditional dance to the beat of Sufi-style drums gained attention.
Dholchi Pappu Sain reportedly held performances every Thursday at the mausoleum of Shah Jamal.
Sain ruled the hearts of thousands of people by playing crazy Sufi drums, was suffering from liver cancer which eventually led to his death.
The veteran drummer used to play drums himself and dance to the beats simultaneously.
The spectators were compelled to admire him when they saw him dancing and enjoying the beat of the drums.
The renowned musician made the country and nation famous through his art in more than 80 countries and also received numerous international awards for his performances.
