World Cup: Shoaib Akhtar criticizes ICC for not naming Babar Azam Player of the Tournament


Lahore: Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his disappointment over Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam being not considered for the player of the tournament award despite putting good performance and taking the team to the semifinal of the T20 World Cup.
Babar’s campaign ended at the hands of Warner’s Australia at the semi-final stage, but he had already had a tournament to remember.
Babar Azam finished the T20 World Cup as the leading run-getter of the tournament with 303 runs followed by Australia's David Warner with 289 runs.
Shoaib Akhtar and millions of fans around the globe wanted Pakistan captain Babar Azam to be named the Player of the Tournament award for his stellar batting throughout the T20 World Cup.
"Was really looking forward to see @babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure," tweeted Shoaib Akhtar.
