Tribunal rejects Pervaiz Rasheed’s appeal, disqualifies him from contesting senate polls
Lahore: An election tribunal on Tuesday has rejected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Pervaiz Rasheed’s appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers by a returning officer and disqualified him from contesting senate elections.

According to details, the verdict was issued by single member bench of Justice Shahid Waheed following the conclusion of arguments.
In his appeal, the former information minister stated that the returning officer of the ECP "unlawfully rejected the nomination papers and he was ready to deposit Rs. 9.5 million to the administration of the Punjab House as required by ECP, but he did not receive the related bank details.”
The PML-N leader had challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan' (ECP) decision to reject his nomination papers for the forthcoming Senate polls in Lahore High Court (LHC) Election Tribunal after the electoral body had rejected his nomination papers.
Rasheed was told that he was a defaulter of the Punjab House in Islamabad and his nomination would be accepted only after he cleared the dues.
