‘He is an asset of national politics’; Maryam reacts to Rasheed’s disqualification by election tribunal
Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has reacted to th decision of Election Tribunal disqualifying party leader Pervaiz Rasheed from contesting upcoming senate polls.
Taking to twitter, Maryam Nawaz wrote that PML-N leader Pervaiz Rasheed is not the name of an individual, but of a thought, an ideology and a bright symbol of democracy.
“He was and will continue to be an asset of national politics,” she said calling him a trusted ally of Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and valiant soldier of democracy.

Earlier today, an election tribunal rejected Pervaiz Rasheed’s appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers by a returning officer and disqualified him from contesting senate elections.
The verdict was issued by single member bench of Justice Shahid Waheed following the conclusion of arguments.
In his appeal, the former information minister stated that the returning officer of the ECP "unlawfully rejected the nomination papers and he was ready to deposit Rs. 9.5 million to the administration of the Punjab House as required by ECP, but he did not receive the related bank details.”
The PML-N leader had challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan' (ECP) decision to reject his nomination papers for the forthcoming Senate polls in Lahore High Court (LHC) Election Tribunal after the electoral body had rejected his nomination papers.
Rasheed was told that he was a defaulter of the Punjab House in Islamabad and his nomination would be accepted only after he cleared the dues.
