11 candidates are contesting in NA-133 election. However, a tough contest is expected between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Shaista Pervez Malik and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Aslam Gul.


Lahore: By-election at National Assembly constituency NA-133 is being held today (Sunday), which started at 08:00 am will continue till 05:00 pm without any stalemate.
Eleven candidates are contesting in NA-133 election. However, a tough contest is expected between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Shaista Pervez Malik and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Aslam Gul.
According to the details, 440,485 voters will exercise their franchise including 233,558 males and 26,927 females.
The most important polling areas are Federal Colony, Johar Town, Township, Green Town and Bihar Colony.
For by-election in NA-133, the Punjab government set 245 polling stations and deployed over 2,000 police personnel to ensure law and order situation during the polls while Rangers personnel are present outside the polling stations for the security of the polling process.
Moreover, mobile phones are not allowed.
This seat was vacated after demise of PML-N' Pervez Malik in October and candidate Shaista Pervez Malik is the widow of late Pervez Malik.
Keeping in view corona situation, official SOPs are being followed at all polling stations.
Moreover, ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates Jamshed Iqbal Cheema has been disqualified from contesting the election on technical grounds and his appeal has been earlier rejected by the election tribunal and later by the high court.
