Twin blasts rock Afghan capital

Kabul: Two explosions hit the Afghan capital Kabul on Friday, with casualties feared, Taliban officials and residents said.

A blast rocked Dasht-i-Barchi area, a heavily Shi'ite Muslim area of western Kabul, while the other blast was reported in Dhaboori area half an hour later.

According to international media, the blast took place at 3:25 pm. A minibus was targeted in Dasht-e-Barchi, a suburb of District 13, according to local time.

Peace in Afghanistan's capital Kabul was once again disrupted by a blast despite no loss of life and property so far reported.

Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Syed Khosti confirmed the incident and security forces were still gathering information and details will be shared soon.

The explosions added to a series of blasts to hit Kabul in recent days, with Shi'ite areas in the west of the city targeted several times.

There was no claim of responsibility but Islamic State militants have claimed several attacks on Shi'ite targets including mosques.
