The seat fell vacant upon the death of disgruntled PML-N MPA Nishat Daha in October this year


Khanewal: Polling for the by-election in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-206 Khanewal-IV got underway on Thursday morning.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the polling process started at 8am and will continue till 5pm without any break.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set up 185 polling stations for around 230,698 voters of the constituency where 13 candidates were competing for the provincial assembly seat.
However, a tough contest is expected between the PML-N’s Rana Muhammad Saleem, who had contested the 2018 general election on a PTI ticket, and the PTI’s Noreen Nishat Daha, the widow of former PMLN candidate and MPA Nishat Daha.
The seat fell vacant after the death of disgruntled PML-N MPA Nishat Ahmed Khan Daha.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has fielded Munaza Perveen, the widow of late Daha while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has awarded ticket to Rana Muhammad Saleem, who was a PTI candidate in the 2018 general election. Syed Mir Wasiq is the PPP candidate for the by-election.
