Project will uplift economy as it will give boom to construction activities in country

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the people will find a major change in the country as now, a common man can also buy a house.
Addressing a ceremony related to “Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Housing Finance Scheme” on Friday, the prime minister said that this is the first time that poor and low income families in the country will have their own homes. He also reiterated the government's commitment for inclusive development in the country by mainstreaming the poor and downtrodden segments of society.
Imran Khan maintained that the project will also uplift the economy as it will give a boom to construction activities in the country.
“We were thinking how to provide a house to the salaried segment as they could not buy houses for them. Every overseas Pakistani has a desire to own a house in the country. Nobody has thought about the welfare of salaried segment and labourers,” he said.
The premier said that Pakistanis should get lessons from the development of China as it becomes a global power in just 30 years after uplifting all of its segments at once, adding that the house financing scheme will give an opportunity to the low-salaried people to build their own houses.
“Banks are providing financing facilities to the salaried segment in the foreign country. In our country, a common man used to be afraid of going to the banks amid the prevalence of a system which does not support a common man.”
“Banks have changed their policies now and the common man is now getting loans within the six months. People will find a major change in the country as now, a common man can also buy a house.”
The prime minister, on the occasion, handed over keys of houses to people getting loans from banks for construction of houses. He also distributed letters of appreciation to the banks showing remarkable performance in issuance of loans.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin said this initiative will enable poor and low income families fulfil the dream of having their own homes.
Governor State Bank of Pakistan Reza Baqir said the banks have granted approval to 109 billion rupees for this project while 32 billion rupees have been disbursed so.
