Stormy rains expected in second week of January

The weather in Lahore has become dry and pleasant. The air quality index recorded 316 in the morning hours in the city which dropped to 170.

With the sun rising, the temperature in the city rose to 18 degrees. The minimum temperature at night is expected to be 7 degrees. Humidity in the air was recorded at 65 per cent.

According to the Meteorological Department, the system which reached Punjab in the last week of December could not bring good rains in Lahore. However, stormy rains are expected in the second week of January.

The PMD had earlier informed that a strong westerly weather system is affecting the country due to which rainfall is taking place in most parts of the country, including Karachi.

PMD Director Sardar Sarfaraz had said that under the system, Karachi will likely receive light rainfall on December 26 and 27.

The PMD official had added that Karachi will remain in the grip of cold weather on December 28 during which the temperature might drop to 9 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave is likely to continue till January 5, he had said.
