Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday tested positive for coronavirus again.

According to the spokesperson of the health minister Syed Hammad Shah, Dr Yasmin contracted the coronavirus first time and she has quarantined herself at home after testing positive for COVID.

The spokesperson said that she got herself tested after her son tested positive upon his arrival in the United States.

“Dr Rashid attended a meeting regarding dengue today, where the province's chief secretary was also in attendance. "All the participants of the meeting have been asked to get themselves tested."

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan faces a rising number of Omicron cases.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 630 coronavirus cases for the first time in two month as fourth wave rages across country, with authorities linking the spike with the Omicron variant of virus. 

Following a surge, around 630 fresh coronavirus cases emerged while 2 people succumbed to the disease in last 24 hours amid 'Omicron' threat. 

Pakistan’s government has expanded the criteria for vaccine booster shots amid Omicron threat.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 630 persons were tested positive while 8 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 28,933.  

The total number of cases has reached 1,295,933.   

As many as 1,256,816 patients have recovered from the disease.
