SHC declares PPP’s Palwasha Khan eligible to contest Senate polls
Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Election Tribunal has declared Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Palwasha Khan eligible to contest Senate elections.
According to details, the Election Tribunal of SHC heard a plea challenging the acceptance of PPP candidate’s nomination papers for the upcoming Senate polls.
During proceedings, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar inquired about the issue in nomination papers to which petitioner responded that Palwasha Khan’s vote was illegally transferred from Punjab to Sindh.
“What is illegal in transfer of vote from Punjab to Sindh and which provision of election laws has been violated in the process?” court further asked.
“These politicians make their own law which suits them,” the petitioner responded to which court clarified that it was not appellate tribunal and directed the petitioner to give arguments within the jurisdiction of writ.
The petitioner said that PPP candidate hid the sources of income in the nomination papers to which Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked that it is the domain of Articles 62 and 63.
Later, the court rejected petitioner's application and declared Palwasha Khan eligible to contest senate polls scheduled to be held on March 03.
