Hike will burden power consumers with additional billions of rupees


Islamabad: Another inflation bomb fell on already overburdened masses, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday approved a Rs4.30 per unit increase in the electricity price under monthly fuel adjustment.
It is noteworthy here that after hike in power tariff burdening the consumers with more than Rs41 billion including the general sales tax (GST). The increase in electricity prices was in line with November’s monthly fuel adjustment.
According to an order the increase in electricity prices will not apply to K-Electric customers and lifeline consumers.
As per the notification, the additional amount will be received in January bills. The hike will burden the power consumers with additional billions of rupees.
