MQM activist dies of police torture, alleges Khalid Maqbool Siddique

Karachi: Mutahidda Quami Movement Pakistan leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui alleged on Wednesday that their activist and joint organiser Muhammad Aslam died of alleged police torure and the party would get a case registered against Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

"This is open terrorism. The days of PPP rule are getting over," Siddiqui said while reacting over police brutality outside the Chief Minister's House.

He claimed their several male and female activists were admitted to hospitals, adding their former town nazim Hanif Soori also got his one eye partially damaged.

 

PPP's Faisal Sabazwari released official medical documents of transporttaion of Aslam to various sections of a hospital.

Accoridng to NICVD, Aslam was not brought to the hospital alive. Law-enforcement agencies are inquiring about the death.

Political leaders contacted MQM leaders over phone, condemned police action on their workers and condoled the demise of their activist.  

Rally against Sindh LG law

Police baton-charged Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) workers and fired tear gas to disperse the protesting activists outside the Chief Minister (CM) House in Karachi on Wednesday.

It is noteworthy here that MQM-P workers removed all barricades to enter Red Zone and held a sit-in at the central gate of CM House in Karachi to protest against the controversial Sindh local government (LG) law. The protest has caused traffic woes in and around Saddar. Several roads have clogged up.

According to the reports, the MQM-P marchers and police have come face to face in the red zone of Karachi outside the Chief Minister House. The MQM-P workers including women and children have been baton-charged by police officials in a sudden move to disperse the protestors outside the CM House.

A female worker’s condition was deteriorated due to heavy firing at the protestors of tear gas shells by police. It was also reported that several MQM-P workers were detained by the policemen from the protest venue.

After shelling and tear gas by police, the enraged protestors are pelting stones on police forces and all adjoin roads have been blocked. The affected roads include Shahrea Faisal, Sadar, M A Jinnah Road, Lyari Expressway, PIDC, I I Chundrigar Road, Empress Market, University Road, Hassan Square, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, NIPA, Gulistan-e-Johar and others.

Earlier, MQM-P workers removed all barricades to enter Red Zone and held a sit-in at the central gate of CM House in Karachi to protest against the controversial Sindh local government (LG) law.

The MQM-P rally against Sindh LG law has been converted into a sit-in in Karachi after the workers entered Red Zone removing all barricades placed by the law enforcement agencies.

MQM-P workers and on-duty police officials came face to face after some of the protestors tried to advance towards the CM House. After being stopped at the CM House, the political workers held a sit-in outside the main gate.
