A PCR test has been the gold standard test for diagnosing COVID-19

Lahore: Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) issued a circular on Saturday limiting the maximum fee of the Covid-19 PCR test to Rs 4,800 across the province.
According to details, the Punjab Healthcare Commission has slashed the rates of PCR tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19.
The PHC issued a circular that all public and private laboratories and collection centres will only charge up to Rs 4,800 for a PCR test and not Rs 6,500.
It is pertinent that PCR means polymerase chain reaction, and a PCR test has been the gold standard test for diagnosing COVID-19 since authorized for use in February 2020.
