Three killed, five wounded after rival groups exchange fire in Kasur
Displaying weapons the heirs of deceased kept roaming the area, triggering sense of fear among locals
Chunian: An exchange of fire between two rival groups left three people dead and five others injured in Kangan Pur area of Kasur on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Mian Ghulam Rasool Jude, 50, Mian Bilal, 34, and a passerby Abdul Ghaffar, 25.
Among the injured is a 12-year-old child. The condition of two of the injured was stated to be critical. And they were referred to a Lahore hospital.
Those who were shot dead were going to attend a court hearing in Kasur. The attackers laid an ambush to target the people of the other group.
The trade organizations of Kangan Pur announced to observe a day of mourning on Wednesday and closed down all markets and shops.
The family members of the slain holding weapons in their arms kept roaming the whole area which created a sense of panic among area residents.
Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan took notice on the incident of killing of three persons in Kunganpur area of Chunian Kasur and sought a report from the Sheikhupura region police chief.
The IG Punjab directed DPO Kasur to arrest the culprits as soon as possible and take strict legal action and ensure justice to the families on priority basis.
Under the direction of IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, DPO Kasur Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf visited the scene of killing of three persons as a result of firing on old enmity between two groups in area of Kunganpur.
Crime scene unit and forensic teams were called upon to gather evidence from the scene. DPO was accompanied by SP Investigation Kamran Asghar and DSP Chunian.
The Kasur DPO said that special teams have been formed under the leadership of SP Investigation for the arrest of the accused.
