Rain in different parts of country including Punjab

According to the PDMA report, during the third spell of heavy rains, a total of 21 people were killed while 14 were injured.

Lahore: The rains in various areas of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the provincial capital Lahore.

It rained in various parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Multan, Rajanpur, Sargodha and Bahawalpur. The Meteorological Department says that the rain system originating from India is expected to intensify, which will cause heavy rainfall in central and northern Punjab today.

Clouds also rained in Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts of Sindh. Similarly, a new series of rains once entered Neelum Azad Kashmir, the rain that started in the morning made the weather colder. The Neelum Chalhana to Sharda highway is open for traffic. While the process of cleaning the slide coming to the place of Keel Sheikh Bela is going on since yesterday.

On the other hand, there was hailstorm in the city of Quetta in Balochistan. Rains caused havoc in Balochistan and three women were injured due to lightning in Nushki.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) report, during the third spell of heavy rains, a total of 21 people were killed while 14 were injured. The dead include seven men, seven women and six children, while the injured include seven men, four women and three children.

In different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, light rain is continuing intermittently. This rain is predicted to continue till April 29. According to the Meteorological Department, one millimeter of rain has been recorded in Peshawar during the last 24 hours, while the highest 25 mm of rain was recorded in Malam Jabba.

Landslides in Swat, Bunir, Dir, Shangla, Kohistan, Bitgram, Torghar, Mansehra and Abbottabad, while there is also a risk of flooding in rivers due to rain in various districts. Instructions have been issued to all concerned institutions to remain alert and take precautionary measures.

According to the Meteorological Department, today there is a possibility of rain in Islamabad, Punjab, North-East Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and hailstorm at few places, while rain is also predicted in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

US should bluntly stop Israel from attacking Rafah: Guterres

Geneva: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed his concern over any Israeli military action in Rafah, saying that the attack would have devastating humanitarian effects.

Antonio Guterres called on the US to stop Israel from attacking Rafah during an interview broadcast by the Qatari Broadcasting Agency, saying that the US should take a blunt position and stop Israel from attacking Rafah.

He also considered the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as the cornerstone of aid in Gaza and reiterated the UN's commitment to UNRWA's principles of neutrality.

The UN Secretary General appealed to all donor countries to resume aid to UNRWA.

He expressed hope that negotiations on the cease-fire in Gaza and the exchange of prisoners would continue.

It is pertinent to note that more than 34,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 77,000 have been injured in Gaza since October 7.

It is believed that the actual number of martyrs may be much higher as many bodies may still be buried in the rubble of the destroyed buildings.

Gujranwala: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) supporters have attacked on police for arresting their leader in Gujranwala.

According to the details, the police reached to PTI leader Asad-ul-Allah’s house to arrest him in Gujranwala but the party supporters were already present there that is how they attacked on the police.

PTI’s supporters targeted violence on several police officers including inspector. Police force run away from there and saved their life from PTI’s supporters.
