Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Friday that the economic situation is improving due to the collective efforts of the past two months.

A federal cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in which the overall political and economic situation of the country was reviewed.

Later, speaking in the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister stated that a report on the economic situation of Pakistan was published a few days ago, our economic indicators have improved in many sectors. Our exports and remittances have also increased, we are following the agenda of economic reforms.

Shehbaz Sharif added that measures are being taken to prevent electricity theft. Our transmission system is weak, there are a lot of losses, decisions have been made regarding the transmission line to reduce electricity theft, and measures are also being taken to make electricity cheaper.

He continued to say that it is also wrong to call everyone bad, there are very good people. Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) earns trillions and the dues of trillions are stuck in the courts. The track and trace report on cigarettes came yesterday. The agreement of track and trace system was made in 2019. In the first phase only cigarettes and later fertilizer, sugar other sectors were added. The system was nothing but a complete fraud.

The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) further said that a government had put a label on the whole of Pakistan and they themselves were pure. We do not know how that government was clean. Look at the serious joke that the system was installed on two lines in the cement plant and left the others. The billions of rupees of the nation were wasted and this track and trace system is running.

He further stated that a committee has been formed to investigate the implementation of the track and trace system, billions of revenues could have come but it was completely wasted. If billions do not come to the national treasury, then we have no right to govern. We will bring money to the national treasury.

“It has been decided with consultation that those responsible from 2019 till today will be determined. We will be responsible to each penny and accountable to the nation. We will gradually reduce the losses one by one. It will become Quaid’s Pakistan,” further added the premier.

The Prime Minister also said that we will have to take tough decisions in the interest of the country.
