Medical emergency implemented in KP amid rains

Peshawar: The medical emergency has implemented till April 30 in different districts because of continuous rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to the details, provincial government implemented emergency on April 30 because of the severe weather conditions in 15 districts including Peshawar.

In this regard, it is mandatory for the health department’s district officers and hospital’s administration to ask for permission before leaving the duty station.

However, a notification has been issued regarding this matter in which the instructions has been given to the hospital administration and district health offices to be prepare for every situation.  

In the 15 districts, district health officers and management staff will be on duty for 24/7 hours.

Imports of petroleum products drop by 8% in Pakistan

In March 2023, the volume of imports of petroleum products was recorded at 1.206 billion dollars, added report.

Karachi: In the first nine months of current financial year, the imports of petroleum products have recorded a decrease of 8% on annual basis.

According to the statistics released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the foreign exchange spent on imports of petroleum products in the period from July to March 2023 was 12.084 billion dollars, which is 8% less than the 13.083 billion dollars of the previous fiscal year.

According to the report, the volume of imports of petroleum products in March 2024 spent foreign exchange of 1.506 billion dollars, which is 25% more than March last year.

In March 2023, the volume of imports of petroleum products was recorded at 1.206 billion dollars, added report.

Compared to February, the imports of petroleum products have increased by 21% on a monthly basis in March. The foreign exchange spent on the imports of petroleum products in February was 1.246 billion dollars.

Shaza says, ‘Pakistan to become IT hub as its leading in all sectors’

Lahore: Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that IT is leading to the development of all sectors, therefore Pakistan will also be made an IT hub.

Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima stated in her address on the second day of Information Technology Commerce Network (ITCN) Asia Exhibition Expo that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's vision is to support business and remove all kinds of obstacles.

She added that steps are being taken to promote smart apps and ecosystem in the country to increase opportunities for the youth.

Shaza Fatima further said that Pakistan is producing 10,000 IT graduates every year, the government will help the people in every way including ecosystem, policy making and provision of conducive environment while steps are also taken for the development of knowledge base economy.

Exhibitors appreciated the effort to bring all information related to IT under one roof which is a positive step.

Noting that Saturday is the last day of the ITCN Asia three-day exhibition, the organizers said that the direct exposure to IT stakeholders will be very beneficial for the participants.
