Two die, 15 suffer burns after fire engulfs Kasur's factory
The loss is being estimated in millions of rupees
Kasur: A major fire broke out in Bullhe Shah Paper Mills on Wednesday, killing two workers and leaving 15 others with multiple burns, rescuers and officials said.
Amjad Kamboh of Kot Radha Kishan and Maqsood of Lahore succumbed to their wounds, while the injured were rushed to state hospitals. The bodies were pulled out of debris.
Fire tenders and ambulances were called in from Lahore and Okara. Firefighters are struggling hard to battle huge flames.
The presence of paper and chemicals in warehouses made factory management and rescuers worry as fire spread in multiple portions of the industrial unit.
A Rescue 1122 spokesman said the blaze engulfed multiple shades stretching onto four acres of land. He said 11 fire vehciles and 55 rescuers are participating in firefighting.
Rescue 1122 director general Dr Rizwan Nasseer also rushed to the spot and supervised the entire operation.
He said the firefighting would last up to two days, adding efforts are being to save other parts of the unit from blaze.
Nasseer said the burning of paper is intensifying the fire.
The DG added that the Punjab Emrgency Service would hold detailed investigation into the cause of fire.
