Prisoners hold seven policemen hostage at Central Jail Larkana
70 inmates of central jail have been transferred from Larkana Jail to other jails
Larkana: A group of prisoners has held seven policemen hostage at a jail ward at the Larkana Central Jail on Thursday.
In a shocking incident that took place at Larkana’s Central Prison as a group of prisoners allegedly held seven policemen hostage inside the jail ward.
According to Deputy Jail Superintendent Maula Baksh Sahito, 70 inmates of central jail have been transferred from Larkana Jail to other jails. The transfer was made for administrative reasons, following escalation created between prisoners and administration in Central Jail Larkana.
According to jail sources, seven cops including Head Constable Abdul Rashid, Constable Shahnawaz, Waheed Bhutto, Imran Zahrani, Ghulam Murtaza, Daman Jagirani and Tariq were held hostage by the inmates.
The sources also said that the talks between the prison administration and the inmates have been failed, however, the deputy jail superintendent said that they are considering to conduct operation for releasing the policemen.
The deputy jail superintendent further said that the IG and DIG Jail has been informed about the demands of the inmates.
Maula Baksh Sahito said that Larkana Jail has a capacity of 600 inmates but there are more than 1000 inmates in the jail.
