Lahore: Expressing its displeasure over “hide and seek” play by singer Meesha Shafi and journalist Maham Javaid, a Lahore court on Monday issued arrest warrants for both of them with a last chance to appear before the court in the harassment case against singer Ali Zafar, .

In its detailed four-page verdict, Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza expressed his annoyance over continued absence of Meesha Shafi and Maham Javaid from hearings of the case. He said that both—Meesha and Maham—were making mockery of the law and their indifference to follow the case was affecting the trial process. He also rejected their pleas for exemption and the appointment of a pleader.

The court also rejected exemption pleas filed by singer Ali Gul Pir and Leena Ghani, stating that nowhere did they talk as per the law in their pleas.

“The twitter account which they used to run campaign against Ali Zafar is still active. Both Ali Gul Pir and Leena Ghani have admitted before the court to upload tweets from that account,” it stated.

The court then adjourned hearing of the case till March 19, 2022.
