Terrible brawl at Mexico stadium kills 17, injures 22
Mixed reporting has come with one report claiming that 17 people have been killed. While other reports say people have been taken to the hospital but no mention of deaths.
Queretaro: At least 17 people were reportedly killed and 22 others injured after horrific violence erupted Saturday during a Mexican football match.
According to details, brawl between opposing fans broke out during the ninth round of the 2022 Clausura football tournament— second half of the game— between Queretaro and Atlas at La Corregidora stadium.
Chaotic scenes unfolded, with fans tumbling over each other and others cowering under a shower of furious kicks and punches.
The game was suspended after terrible fighting broke out between fans.
Following this, security guards opened the doors of stadium to allow fans to get to safety, some instead continued to exchange blows—forcing the game to be stopped and sending the players to the locker room.
The aggressors used anything they could as weapons to attack rival fans
Fighting then continued on the field, in the stands and outside the stadium. Many of the fans who were attacked were also stripped of their clothes.
