Fazlur Rehman reaches parliament to surrender before police
PDM head announces call for countrywide protest against government
Islamabad: JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman reached parliament to hand him over to the police in protest. PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq also announced that all the opposition MNAs will also surrender to the police.
Fazl, while addressing the media, said he has reached the parliament to surrender himself as PDM president. He said they had reports that their MNAs would be abducted. He also gave a call for countrywide protest against the government.
The police have also arrested MNA Jamulud Din while Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Kamran Murtaza sustained injuries during the operation. On the other hand, JUI has given a call to their workers all around the country to reach Islamabad.
Islamabad Inspector General of Police Muhammad Ahsan Younus took notice of the group's presence inside the lodges, according to a tweet posted from their official account. He suspended the police officials in charge at D-Chowk, parliament lodges and took charge of the operation.
Earlier, Islamabad police raided the Parliamentary Lodges in the federal capital night and arrested Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) MNA Salahuddin Ayyubi and Ansaarul Islam members.
Senator Kamran Murtaza was also injured.
Earlier, federal police decided to conduct an operation inside the Parliament lodges.
Media personnel were directed to leave the lodges while MNA Salahuddin Ayubi of the Ansar ul Islam was arrested along with other members of the party.
Shortly afterwards, Ayubi’s staff and police personnel started a clash. Several parliamentarians of the PPP and PML-N were also present in the lodges at the time of the lodge, while JUI's Maulana Fazlur Rehman had also reached the venue.
During a scuffle between police and Ayubi’s staff at Parliament lodges, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique was injured when his foot hit the door.
